The Key to Defensive Driving
Be safe on the road by practicing defensive driving. That means driving in a way that uses safe driving practices. This will help you avoid car accidents and other hazards on the road. If you take defensive driving lessons, you will learn to improve your driving skills by reducing risks and being prepared for situations that may arise while driving.
Focus
When you are on the road, you have to minimize distractions. That means you keep your eyes on the road and pay attention to what is going on. Do not make calls, send messages, or do anything that takes your hands off the wheel and your eyes off the road.
Be aware
You should keep your eyes moving so that you know what it going on. Check your mirrors and the road ahead. This will allow you to anticipate your next actions. When you stay alert while driving, you can see when someone has suddenly hit the brakes or switched lanes. Defensive driving is about being in control of the situation. By monitoring the other drivers and their movements, you are able to adjust your speed and react without being caught off guard.
Control your speed
It is harder to control your vehicle when you are driving at a high speed. There are speed limits for a reason. Stick to the recommended limits, and you make the road safer for everyone. Driving too fast can cause accidents, but driving too slow also has its own risks. Ideally, you should drive at around the same speed as the other vehicles on the road.
